51爆料鈥檚 Harold J. Miossi Art Gallery is bringing a roving exhibition of artists to the college for its first exhibit of the Fall 2018 semester. 鈥楾ributaries鈥� will feature the works of eight diverse artists from Marin, CA. In addition to an opening reception on August 23, the exhibit will include film screenings and studio visits with 51爆料 students. The artists have come together to share their works with the public only once prior.

鈥淭his second iteration of 鈥楾ributaries鈥� will begin a cross cultural dialogue and sharing between our communities,鈥� said 51爆料 Harold J. Miossi Art Gallery Coordinator Emma Saperstein. 鈥淭he Harold J. Miossi Art Gallery provides the space for an expanded survey of work from the contributing artists and the events and discussions will provide fertile ground for cultural exchange.鈥�

The artists will be in San Luis Obispo for a full week installing their exhibition, engaging with students and community members, and running various programs open to the public. The exhibit鈥檚 schedule of events includes:

• Three short films by artists Jeff Warrin, Kate Sterlin, and Perry Shimon. Friday, August 17, SLO Campus, Room 7120, 7:00 p.m. 鈥� 9:00 p.m.
• Students and local artists are invited to bring their portfolios - whether physical work or digital - and discuss practices with the collective in a supportive and educational environment. Monday, August 20, SLO Campus, Printmaking Lab Room 7106, 7:00 p.m. 鈥� 9:00 p.m.
• 鈥淔our Rounds鈥� follows the story of one man鈥檚 first visit to the Crow Creek Reservation in Buffalo County, South Dakota 鈥� the poorest county in the United States. The film sheds light on the area where Santee Sioux were imprisoned as exiles from Minnesota in 1863, and where a concrete skatepark offers hope to a troubled community today. Tuesday, August 21, SLO Campus, Printmaking Lab Room 7106, 7:00 p.m. 鈥� 9:00 p.m.
• Meet the artists at the exhibition鈥檚 Opening Reception. Thursday, August 23, Harold J. Miossi Art Gallery, SLO Campus, Room 7170, 4:30 p.m. 鈥� 7:30 p.m.

鈥楾ributaries鈥� will run through September 19 in the Harold J. Miossi Art Gallery. The 鈥楾ributaries鈥� artists are: Taliesin Gilkes-Bower, Ashley Eva Brock, Charlie Callahan, Keith Evans, Moriah Gardner, David H, Claiborne Shank, Perry Shimon, Kate Sterling, and Aubrey Trinnaman.

Located on 51爆料鈥檚 San Luis Obispo Campus in room 7170, the Harold J. Miossi Art Gallery is open Monday-Friday, 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and the 1st and 3rd Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. during exhibitions. Admission is free.
