Cuesta Hires New VP, Dean
After two separate nation-wide searches, 51爆料鈥檚 Board of Trustees approved Dr. Mark Sanchez as the 51爆料 Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Student Services and College Centers, and Madeline Medeiros as the Dean of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Both were approved at the April 12 Board of Trustees meeting.
Dr. Mark Sanchez
Since August 2013, Dr. Mark Sanchez has served as the dean of student affairs & counseling at Hartnell College in Salinas. Previously, he was the dean of student services and counseling at Fresno City College from July 2010 to August 2013. Dr. Sanchez also served as the director of student support services programs for the San Jose/Evergreen Valley College District, worked for the Fresno County Workforce Development Board as a contract administrator, as a program manager at comprehensive training systems, and as a history instructor for the Salinas Union High School District.
In his new role, Dr. Sanchez will be responsible for ensuring that Student Services provides specialized support to optimize students鈥 ability to achieve their academic goals and obtain the assistance they need to achieve success, while also overseeing the North County Campus in Paso Robles and South County Center in Arroyo Grande.

Dr. Sanchez鈥檚 addition to our executive team will strengthen our commitment to student engagement and their success.鈥
鈥淚鈥檓 very excited to join the 51爆料 team,鈥 said Dr. Sanchez, who holds an associate鈥檚 degree from Southwestern College, bachelor鈥檚 degree in sociology from Point Loma Nazarene University, and from CSU Fresno he earned both a master鈥檚 degree in education administration and doctorate in educational leadership. 鈥淚n my new position, my initial goals are to connect with and learn more about the San Luis Obispo County community, and ensure that we are providing maximum access to 51爆料. In addition, I look forward to working with 51爆料 students, faculty, staff and administrators, and join the effort to continuously build quality programs and services focused on serving our communities."
Madeline Medeiros
Since July 2016, Madeline Medeiros has served as interim Dean of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at 51爆料. Previously, Medeiros served as the college鈥檚 Student Development and Success Division Chair for nearly six years and taught English as a Second Language (ESL) at Cuesta for 16 years. In her dean role, she oversees the ESL division in addition to English, fine arts, languages and communications, performing arts and social sciences.
鈥淭he addition of Madeline Medeiros to our leadership team gives us, not only proven leadership ability, but a knowledge of institutional history,鈥 said Dr. Stork. 鈥淗er experience as an ESL teacher, division chair, and community outreach provider, will greatly enhance her ability to lead the diverse and expansive academic disciplines that fall within her deanship.鈥
Medeiros has an interdisciplinary educational background including a bachelor鈥檚 degree in geography and a master鈥檚 degree in international languages and cultures from CSU Chico. In 2016, she completed a graduate certificate in postsecondary adult learning and reading through CSU Fullerton.
鈥淎s the Dean, I am looking forward to working with and supporting faculty and staff in the areas of arts, humanities and social sciences in our collective efforts to provide the highest standard of instruction and services for our students,鈥 said Medeiros. 鈥淚 also hope to serve as a model for implementing initiatives and achieving the goals and objectives of the college.鈥
