Artists' Books Displayed at Library
A sampling of donated Scripps College Press artists鈥 books are currently on display in the entrance of 51爆料鈥檚 San Luis Obispo Campus Library (building 3132) through the spring semester.
The Scripps College Press program was founded more than 75 years ago to provide students with an opportunity to work on a typographic press. Today鈥檚 students create collaborative artists鈥 books by writing and illustrating content and then hand setting the type. 鈥淪tudents print the book by letterpress and bind volumes in editions of 100 copies,鈥 said 51爆料 Librarian Denise Fourie. 鈥淭he experience provides students the freedom to explore bookmaking processes as an art form. Our library is fortunate to own these beautiful, limited-edition artists鈥 books.鈥
The exhibit is free to the public and can be viewed during regular library hours: Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. 鈥 8:00 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. 鈥 4:00 p.m. The library is closed on weekends and holidays. For more information, call the library at (805) 546-3155.
